A positive mental attitude is a state of mind that believes only in possibility and thrives over challenges. A positive mental attitude is what most of us lack. A positive mental attitude is based on your ability to visualize possibilities and success. When you can picture the most likely outcomes you want, you will find it will be easy to pick the best course of actions and be motivated towards achieving it.
You need to be able to think of as many possible outcomes as possible and narrow it down to the top 3, then work on how to achieve any of those options. Stop using the phrase ‘can’t when referring to yourself. Remember when you can’t, then you must! Whatever you feed your mind is what it will give back to you. If you start to believe that nothing is above you, then nothing will be above you.
A positive mental attitude really boosts your confidence which makes you able to face any situation with a plan to win. What’s the worst that could happen? Even if you don’t make it the first time, you’ll gain invaluable insights to get it right the next time.
Let me share a story about a partially deaf four year old child. One day, he went home with a note in his pocket from his teacher. “Your Tommy is too stupid to learn, get him out of the school.”. His mother read the note and answered, “my Tommy is not too stupid to learn, I will teach him myself”. And that Tommy grew up to be the great Thomas Edison. Thomas Edison had only three months of formal schooling.
He has inherited his mother’s tenacity and perseverance. In 1914, Thomas Edison, at the age of 67, lost his factory on fire. It had a very little insurance. No longer a young man; Edison watched his lifetime effort go up in fire and smoke and said “There is great value of disaster. All our mistakes are burnt up. Thank god we can start anew”. In spite of disaster, three weeks later , he invented the PHONOGRAPH. What an attitude!
Thomas Edison failed approximately 10,000 times while he was working on the light bulb; and when asked about his failures, he answered with gusto, “What failure? I found 10,000 ways of how not to do it”
‘Our thoughts are reflected by our actions and vice versa’
Always keep your mind on the people and things that make you happy, inspired and empowered. And you will see that it is impossible not to have a positive mental attitude.
To sum it up, here are 3 simple tips for you:
Tip 1: Be optimistic. An optimistic person is a winner. Always look for the silver lining in every cloud.
Tip 2: Take charge! Remember that if you do not control your situation, it will control you. You are the boss of you, let people admire you by your ability to take charge of yourself and produce good results.
Tip 3: Be energetic: Carry out exercises that make you feel refreshed. Energy helps you stay positive, while fatigues zap out physical prowess and mental strength.
Positivity is a characteristic of a winner!
