Success is built from the Grassroots

We are all in pursuit of success in life. At the workplace, some find success illusive, as we are never taught the essential keys to attain success. Some of us have not even define what success means to us.

“Desire is the key to motivation, but it’s the determination and commitment to an unrelenting pursuit of your goal – a commitment to excellence – that will enable you to attain the success you seek.” – Mario Andretti, race car driver

Before we go on to talk about mastering success, we must first define what we understand by the word success. To many the meaning of success varies. For some, it is financial prosperity, to others it is social dominance or power. What is yours?

Whichever category you may fall into there is one belief about success that we all share which is that success is an event that accomplishes an intended purpose. Success can be mastered after it has been defined by those who have it. Mastering success deals with the ability to create success and maintain it.

Successful people share common traits such as:

Discipline – sticking to your plan and not wavering even if there are difficulties. Successful people always keep their eyes on the price

Punctuality – time management makes a person successful. Successful people are always on time, they believe that success is available only for the early birds

Integrity – successful people maintain their integrity by practicing what they preach and avoiding any unlawful acts that may taint their name.

Planning – successful people put all their ideas on paper. They plan how best to achieve their goals

Courage – every successful person has this characteristic because it takes courage to face challenges in life and still be successful.

Mastering success is necessary for anyone who wants to be successful. In order to have a well structured plan we must make provisions for the possible outcomes. In essence we must also have a backup plan.

The most practical, beautiful, workable philosophy in the world won’t work – if you won’t.
